Investing Tidbit:
Its not advisable to convert a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA if you need to withdraw money during the conversion to pay the taxes that will be owed on the regular IRA, or if youll be pushed into a higher tax bracket as a result of the transfer. However, one good reason to convert is to lower your income taxes during retirement. Since Roth IRA distributions are not considered taxable income, your tax liability during retirement will be much lower. This can also help lower the taxes on your Social Security benefits.
