Important Rules To Follow:
Rule #1
Write down your goals. It helps to make them realistic and
easy.
Rule #2
Goals must be specific, measurable, and provable.
What not to do: "I want to be wealthy in the year 2000."
An actionable goal: "I will put aside 10% of my income in
a retirement account for the next year."
Rule #3
Start now! Take immediate action within 48 hours.
By doing something immediately--making a call or looking
up the information you need--your goals will feel more real
and specific.
Rule #4
Put a written copy of your goals where you see them every
day.
Good places include your organizer, bathroom, or kitchen.
Rule #5
Share your goals with someone you love and trust.
Support and help from family and friends are invaluable.
Rule #6
Develop goals that fit with your values.
If your value ladder showed
that spending more time with family was important, translate
that into a goal such as, "Picnic at the park with the kids
every Saturday at noon."
Rule #7
Review your goals at least every 12 months.
At a minimum, review your goals at least once a year (like
in the last week of December). This will help to refocus your
efforts and urge you to recommit emotionally.
