Globat.com Fraud - Do Not Give Your Credit Card Number
Globat.com advertises they will register a domain names for $7 and then illegally uses your credit card to charge you $49.95 several times a month for what they call upgraded hosting whether you signed up for this service or not. I was charged $49.95 twice in one day and $49.95 a week earlier. I am sure they would have continued charging if I had not seen it on my statement and complained.

I was looking for a cheap place to register a domain name (no hosting or other services) and wound up Globat. In order to see the final quote for registering the domain, I had to enter address, contact info, and *stupidly* I entered my credit card number. I figured that since I hadn't reached a 'checkout' or 'confirm order' screen, I had the option to back out if I didn't like their price, but I had no reason to believe it was going to be any higher than the $5 or so they had advertised. When I finally got to a checkout/confirm order screen, I saw they had added charges that knocked the price up to $53. I did NOT place the order; I got the heck away from their site.
Fast forward two weeks. I checked the little-used email account I had entered on the Globat form and found several emails from Globat, telling me they were charging me for the domain package I DID NOT order, another verifying they'd charged my card, and another stating that they'd added another service. I NEVER EVEN ORDERED ANYTHING FROM THEM, and they were placing charges on my card. As far as I can tell, this is out and out FRAUD.
I called the company and got voice mail every time. I left messages explaining my problem, but I didn't hear back. In the meantime, I read some of the dozens upon dozens of posts on the web by people Globat has defrauded and made unhappy... and so I called my bank and cancelled my card and happily agreed to fill out an affadavit explaining why Globat's charge was fraudulent.
A few hours later, I got a call from a Globat rep who must have listened to my terse messages and heard me say I was cancelling my credit card and filing a report. He said he'd "fix it" and when I asked how, he started on what seemed to be a sales pitch. I cut him off and told him I'd cancelled my card because I was well aware of their practice of sneaking extra charges to people's accounts. He stammered that he waould refund my money right away and asked me to PLEASE not file any complaints against them. He sounded guilty, like he didn't want anyone to shine a light on his company's alleged misdoings.
I told him to go ahead and refund my money, but we'll see if that happens. Either way, I've changed my card number so they can't use it in the future and I absolutely am filing a complaint with my bank over Globat's fraudulent practices.
That's my experience with them, and I strongly advise anyone thinking of doing business with this company the STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM.
I can't believe that after they promised twice now they wouldn't charge my credit card again - they did for $100. I had to cancel my Mastercard which is such an annoyance since I pay many of my bills automatically from it.
If ever I saw a good reason for a class action lawsuit against Globat this it. Is anyone working on one? With these kind of policies I can not believe they are still in business.
