FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Financial Website Traffic Up 500% during 2006 Tax Season
San Francisco, CA -- April 25, 2006 – Financial website traffic patterns this last month hold promise that consumers are starting to take control of their financial lives. MsMoney.com, the leading personal finance website, sees a 5-fold increase in traffic during this Tax Season: up to 160,000 visitors per week.
Are American's getting smarter about their money? With bankruptcy at an all time high and the savings rate at an all time low last year, consumers might now be forced to pay attention to their financial health. According to a new Poll, out of the 100 million or so tax filers, approximately two thirds of them expect a refund this year and one third plan on saving it.
Most American's tend to put financial planning on the back burner, however during the few weeks prior to April 15th they turn up the heat. Men and women alike scour the Internet for places that will give them an inkling of how to manage their money wisely. One of those places is www.MsMoney.com.
Ms.Money visitors come from thousands of small websites that know Ms.Money will teach their community how to financially thrive. Whether it is TaxMama.com, MoneyPants.com, or the Budgeting Babe Blogger, women are bonding together to bring financial wisdom to the masses by referring their visitors to Ms.Money.
It isn’t just women that have taken up a liking to the valuable educational content; Google lists 28,700 web pages that link to Ms.Money. Yahoo's search engine lists 48,000 web pages that link to MsMoney.com. That is effective viral marketing. In fact, Tiffany Bass Bukow, CEO and Founder of MsMoney.com Inc., often called Ms. Money, has spoken on marketing topics just like that, as well as financial empowerment and success.
Tiffany launched her company live on television six years ago with the help of the First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton who was present in the MsMoney offices for the official ribbon cutting. Though things are much lower key now, they are still thriving. After raising money from investors to build the company, Tiffany now watches the budget very carefully. This is part of the reason she feels the company is still around after all these years when most other dotcoms went dotbust.
Consumers can get a few tips from Ms.Money in the budgeting department, since on average they spend more than they make. Ms.Money says, “You can throw out the budget if you learn to spend wisely on credit. Happiness is a positive cash flow and the only way to find peace is spend less than you make.” She ecommends only using credit cards for items you know you can pay off before the end of the month.
Bankruptcy is at an all time high primarily because consumers are continuing to buyon credit even though they don't have the funds to pay it. With some interest rates in the 20-30% range, this can cause a great financial burden. (2.1 million people filed for debt relief with the courts last year.) To break these old habits of over-spending and money mismanagement, people need to develop new habits.
What better place to learn those than on a website with hundreds of tips for creating a new money-smart lifestyle? Whether it is Tiffany’s daily inspirational Blog, her free eBook titled “Live Your Life at Half the Price,” or the Retirement Planning section, there is something on its thousands of web pages for everyone.
The media is paying attention to Ms.Money’s leadership role in delivering financial content. Time Magazine, Business Week and USA Today have given it stellar reviews. Veteran Bloggers have hailed MsMoney.com as the best financial education site and have placed founder Tiffany Bass Bukow in the ranks of Oprah, Meg Whitman of eBay, and Cathleen Black of Hearst Magazine Corp, as one of the women business rock stars of the 21st century who are revolutionizing the way business is done.
It is Tiffany’s personal passion for making all women financial rock stars that drives her to keep MsMoney.com alive and fresh. Tiffany says, “I want women, men and children to understand the fundamentals of financial health so they can build a financial plan matched to their life goals and go on to live the life of their dreams.”
Isn’t that what all people want? To live the American Dream? The one that doesn’t include financial demise from consumer overspending to get it.
